OBSESSIONS OCTET MELODIA CD RELEASE	03/04/2010
Join Kent Sangster’s Obsessions Octet as they release their highly-anticipated sophomore album Melodia on March 7 at the Yardbird Suite (11 Tommy Banks Way). Shows are at 3pm and 7:30pm. Following the success of the Obsessions Octet’s debut album Obsession, which earned a 2007 Western Canadian Music Award and Juno-nomination, the Obsessions Octet is thrilled to release Melodia. The album’s repertoire, an elegant blend of classical strings and Latin jazz rhythms, includes works by Chucho Valdez, Astor Piazzolla, Cole Porter and a collection of Sangster’s original compositions. Founded in 2005 by Sangster, a Juno-nominated jazz saxophonist and composer, and his wife Joanna Ciapka–Sangster, a classically-trained violinist, The Obsessions Octet is a fascinating experiment by several Edmonton music luminaries.
